The authors observe the developments in this previously communist country where denial of the very existence of the problem prevailed before. His struggle to define a rationale for and set of drug laws that comport with democratic ideals and their own social and cultural histories will prove challenging, yet exciting. However, the article also indicates that Poland is, like other central European states, under considerable pressure from the US and other political bodies to commit themselves to the existing UN protocols, as this means prohibitionism (Extract of the publication)
