ENGLISH : Four years on average after having regularly terminated a drug free inpatient program at Hamburg, the long-term development of a group of former drug addicts has been recorded. About 2/3 lived socially integrated, about 2/3 were free from drugs, almost 3/4 have been integrated into school, vocational training or jobs and 4/5 have not been convicted. A lot of them improved their job or school qualifications during or after the inpatient program. 68% attained at least a degree at the Realschule, compared to 22% at the beginning of treatment. Clients who started quite late with drug-consumption and who had job skills at the beginning of the program while not having been forced by court to take part in the long-term treatment have been drugfree and integrated into social life, school or jobs more frequently at the time of the interview.
