ENGLISH : This study examine the influence of between-subjects differences (sex, age, trait anxiety and depression) on within-subjects daily moods, drinking contexts and alcohol consumption. The sample is composed of 80 undergraduate university students from Aquitaine. During the first phase, participants were asked to complete a screening battery including : the Substance pattern of use over the last 30 days, the Community Assessment of Psychic Experiences (Van Os et al.), the Center of Epidemiological Studies Depression-Scale (Radloff, 1977) and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory form Y (Spielberger, 1983). In the second phase of the study, the experience sampling method (ESM) was used during one week. The ESM reduces retrospectives recall biases and increases ecological validity. The results underscore two specific drinking contexts: solitary drinking context and social drinking context. Being men predict an increase in alcohol consumption when indNiduals were in home of family or friends or in restaurants with family or friends. The results highlight a strong link between trait anxiety, depressive symptoms and daily alcohol consumption. Futhermore, the put to the test self medication hypothesis demonstrate anxious and depressive syndromes predict a later ancohol intake more than daily moods. (Author's abstract.) |
